As gelatine is used in food and pharmaceutical applications, quality control is of fundamental importance in its production. For each production batch and each lot prepared for shipment to the customer, the following parameters are tested in fully equipped laboratories:
- Bloom (gel strength)
- Colour and clarity
- Ash content
- Bacteriological conformity (Total count, Salmonella, E.Coli)
- Sulphur Dioxide
The company has the following certifications:
Due to a majority Muslim population there are only Halal products in the food chain. Pork is not grown or slaughtered in Pakistan which is another factor supporting the company for claiming Halal status. NTP Gelatine is Halal certified by the Pakistani authority Jamia Markaz Uloom Islamia and the Malaysian certifying body JAKIM.
BSE free status
NTP Gelatine has been using indigenous raw material. Until 2006 there were no imports of animals and so Pakistan was classified as BSE free. In the last few years, imports of live animals have been allowed from certified BSE free countries.
The limits are set according to the International Regulations. And
Records and samples are kept for all shipments and can be traced back to the raw material.
